Canyonlands preserves a wilderness of rock at the heart of the Colorado Plateau. At center stage are two canyons carved by the Green and Colorado rivers.

Dead Horse Point is located right next to Canyonlands.According to a legend, its name is derived from wild mustangs who died in a corral where they were left without water.
