Capitol Reef NP June 2010

A strange, beautiful landscape of multi-hued rock layers, Capitol Reef National Park lies in the heart of Utah's canyon country. Here one can see the geologic formations of the Waterpocket Fold and Cathedral Valley, archeological evidence of the ancient Fremont Culture, vestiges of a historic Mormon settlement; and a range of habitats of diverse plants and animals.

We passed through Capitol Reef on our way from Bryce Canyon to Moab. While we were there a storm moved through, producing dramatic skies and a lot of wind, but no precipitation.
